불빛 늑대의 진실(The Truth of the Fire-Eyed Wolf)

After returning the Poison Apple Tree to its kind self,

Irene, the brave little knight, found a quiet spot in the woods.

She set up her small tent under the stars,

wrapped herself in her warm red cloak,

and slowly closed her eyes.

The stars twinkled gently above,

and the wind whispered softly through the trees.

All was peaceful...

until—

“Awooooooo!”

Irene’s eyes snapped open.

She sat up quickly, her heart thumping.

“That sounded like a wolf…” she whispered.

Outside the tent, the forest was dark and still.

But then—

STOMP… STOMP… STOMP…

Heavy footsteps came closer and closer.

Two glowing red eyes appeared in the shadows.

From between the trees,

a giant wolf monster stepped out!

Its fur was black and dark red like burning coal.

Its eyes and mouth glowed with a scary, bright light.

It bared its sharp, glowing teeth,

and let out a thunderous growl:

“GRRRRRRRRR!”

Irene stood tall, holding her sword with both hands.

“I’m not afraid of you!” she shouted.

“I’ll protect this forest!”

The wolf roared and charged straight at her.

WHOOSH!

Irene rolled to the side, just missing the snapping jaws.

The wolf slammed its paw into the ground—

BOOM! Dirt and leaves flew everywhere!

Irene swung her sword at its side—

CLANG!

But the fur was too tough. Her blade bounced off!

“This isn’t working…” she thought, panting.

The wolf swiped at her with its huge claws—

WHAM!

She raised her shield just in time,

but the force knocked her backward.

As she lay on the ground catching her breath,

Irene looked into the wolf’s glowing red eyes…

and she saw something strange.

Tears.

Behind the fire, behind the growls—

there was sadness. Deep, quiet sadness.

Irene’s heart began to ache.

“You’re not a monster, are you?” she whispered.

“You’re just… cursed.”

With all her courage,

Irene stood up,

ran forward,

and touched her holy sword gently to the glowing mark on the wolf’s forehead.

FLASH!

A burst of bright, golden light filled the forest.

The glow in the wolf’s eyes faded.

Its huge body shrank smaller… and smaller…

until finally—

Sitting on the ground, blinking up at Irene…

was a tiny puppy.

“Yip?” it barked softly.

Irene gasped.

“A puppy…?”

The little dog wagged its tail and licked her hand.

Then Irene remembered something—

The villagers had once told her:

“There was a sweet puppy we all loved in Elly.

It had shiny eyes and white paws.

One day… it just disappeared.”

“You were that puppy…!” Irene said, kneeling beside it.

The puppy looked up at her, its eyes shining.

The evil wizard had cast a spell,

turning the most loved puppy in the village

into a scary monster wolf that watched and chased the people it once loved.

Irene gently picked up the puppy and hugged it.

“You’re safe now. And you’re not alone.

Let’s stay together, okay?”

“Woof!” the puppy barked happily.

Irene brought the little dog back to her tent.

She opened the flap and smiled.

“Come on in. We can share.”

That night, under the starry sky,

the brave little knight and the once-cursed puppy

curled up side by side in the warm tent.

And for the first time in a long while—

the puppy slept peacefully,

knowing it had a friend.

아이린은 풀밭 위에 작은 텐트를 치고
따뜻한 망토를 덮고 조용히 잠이 들었어요.

“아아아아우우우우우우……!”
어디선가 들려온 늑대의 울음소리에
아이린은 눈을 번쩍 떴어요.

“무슨 소리지…?”

아이린은 텐트 밖으로 나가 조심조심 주위를 살폈어요.
그 순간! 숲 깊은 곳에서 두 눈이 반짝 빛났어요.

그리고…
“쿵! 쿵! 쿵!”
무언가 거대한 발소리가 다가오기 시작했어요.

어둠 속에서 나타난 건,
불타는 눈과 입을 가진 거대한 늑대 괴물!

늑대는 입을 벌리며 큰 소리로 으르렁거렸어요.

“으르르르르릉!!!”

아이린은 단단히 검을 쥐고 말했어요.
“내가 무서울 것 같아? 절대 물러서지 않아!”

늑대는 날카로운 이빨을 드러내며
아이린에게 달려들었어요.

“휙!” 아이린은 몸을 굴려 가까스로 피했어요.
늑대의 발이 바닥을 쿵! 하고 찍었고,
주변 흙이 튀며 나무들이 흔들렸어요.

“얍!”

아이린은 늑대의 옆구리를 향해 검을 휘둘렀어요.
하지만 늑대의 털은 너무나 단단했어요.
검이 튕겨나가고 말았지요!

“이 정도로는 안 되는 건가…?”

늑대는 다시 달려와
날카로운 발톱으로 아이린을 노렸어요.
“쾅!” 방패를 들어 막았지만
아이린은 힘에 밀려 뒤로 굴렀어요.

숨을 몰아쉬던 아이린은
늑대의 눈을 가만히 바라봤어요.

“……저 눈… 울고 있는 것 같아.”

순간, 아이린은 무언가를 깨달았어요.
“이 늑대는 진짜 괴물이 아니야.
속에 무언가… 슬픈 비밀이 있어!”

아이린은 마지막 힘을 다해
늑대의 이마로 달려들었어요.
그리고 신성한 검을
늑대 이마 한가운데 빛나는 자리에 살며시 닿게 했어요.

“제발… 네 진짜 모습을 되찾아줘!”

“파앗!”

눈부신 빛이 터지며
늑대의 울음이 멈췄고,
커다란 몸이 작아지고,
불빛도 사라졌어요.

그리고 그 자리에 남은 건…
작고 귀여운 강아지 한 마리였어요.

강아지는 조심스레 아이린을 바라보며
작은 소리로 “멍…” 하고 울었어요.
아이린은 조심스럽게 다가가 말했어요.

“네가… 그 무서운 늑대였구나…
하지만 지금은 괜찮아. 내가 널 구했어.”

강아지는 아이린 손에 살짝 코를 대고
꼬리를 흔들었어요.

아이린은 강아지를 품에 안고
다시 텐트로 돌아왔어요.

그리고 말했어요.
“우리 함께 자자. 내 친구가 되어줘.”

그날 밤,
아이린과 강아지는 나란히 텐트 안에 누워
별빛 아래서 포근하게 잠들었어요.

무서운 싸움이 있었지만,
결국 마음이 따뜻해지는 밤이었어요…
