은빛 늑대(The Silver Wolf)

Deep into the mountains, Irene, Jinnie, and the little dog Posil felt an ominous presence surrounding them. From the shadows of the trees, glowing eyes appeared—an entire pack of massive black tigers. Once protectors of the forest, they had been enslaved by an evil sorcerer and now used their razor-sharp fangs and claws to attack humans.

The moment the tigers saw the three friends, they lunged forward with terrifying roars. Jinnie unleashed blasts of fire and shards of ice, but her magic slid off the tigers’ dark hides as if they were invincible. Irene swung her sword with all her strength, parrying and counterattacking, but for every tiger she pushed back, two more pounced upon her. The battle dragged on, and Irene’s body grew weary.

Then, with a shattering crack, Irene’s sword split in two. She froze in despair, her heart heavy. Without my sword, I can’t protect Jinnie and Posil… Tears welled in her eyes as she faced the encroaching tigers.

At that desperate moment, Posil stepped forward. His brown fur shimmered white, his body growing larger, stronger. Before their eyes, the small dog transformed into a majestic silver wolf, his coat glowing like moonlight and his eyes shining with radiant light. Irene remembered the day she first met him as a cursed black wolf, but this time, the transformation was different—noble and bright.

The silver wolf howled, and the sound echoed through the mountains. With each powerful leap, he struck down ten tigers at once, sending them crashing to the ground. The black tigers, once ferocious, now cowered before his overwhelming strength. One by one, they turned and fled into the shadows, too frightened to return.

When the battle was over, Posil shrank back into his small, familiar dog form. But Irene and Jinnie could still see a silver light glowing faintly in his eyes. Jinnie cast a gentle spell, allowing them to hear Posil’s thoughts.

“This time, I was able to protect you,” said Posil in a warm voice. “It makes me so happy. I promise I’ll always stay by your side and help you.”

Overcome with relief, Irene and Jinnie hugged him tightly. They realized then that their bond had become unbreakable. With renewed courage, the three friends set off again into the depths of the forest, ready for whatever dangers lay ahead.

“그르르르…” 호랑이들이 날카로운 이빨과 발톱을 드러내며 아이린과 친구들에게 달려들었어요. 지니는 얼음과 불꽃의 마법을 펼쳤지만, 검은 호랑이들의 두꺼운 가죽에는 전혀 효과가 없었어요. 아이린은 검을 휘두르며 맞서 싸웠지만, 호랑이들이 너무 많아 힘에 부쳤어요. 한 마리를 쓰러뜨리면 또 다른 호랑이 두세 마리가 달려들었고, 아이린의 몸은 점점 지쳐갔지요.

그러던 중, 아이린의 검에 금이 가기 시작했어요. “쨍!” 하는 소리와 함께 결국 검은 부러져 버렸지요. 아이린은 큰 충격에 눈을 크게 뜨며 속으로 중얼거렸어요. 이제 지니와 포실이를 지켜줄 수 없어… 절망감에 눈물이 맺혔어요.

그때, 포실이가 앞으로 나섰어요. 갈색 털이 빛나더니 순식간에 흰빛으로 물들었고, 포실이는 점점 커지며 은빛 늑대로 변했어요. 그의 눈에서는 밝은 광채가 흘러나와 숲 전체를 환하게 비추었지요. 은빛 늑대가 된 포실이는 크게 울부짖으며 검은 호랑이 무리에게 뛰어들었어요.

포실이가 한 번 몸을 날릴 때마다 호랑이들이 열 마리씩 공중으로 튕겨 나갔고, 땅에 떨어진 호랑이들은 두려움에 떨며 뒷걸음질쳤어요. 그렇게 포실이의 힘에 눌린 검은 호랑이 무리는 결국 모두 도망치고 말았지요.

전투가 끝난 뒤, 포실이는 다시 귀여운 강아지 모습으로 돌아왔어요. 하지만 아이린과 지니는 그의 눈 속에서 여전히 은빛의 빛을 볼 수 있었어요. 지니는 마법으로 포실이의 마음을 읽었지요. 포실이는 따뜻한 목소리로 말했어요.

“이번에는 내가 너희를 지켜줄 수 있어서 정말 기뻐. 앞으로도 언제든 함께 싸우고, 너희 곁을 지킬 거야.”

아이린과 지니는 눈시울이 붉어지며 포실이를 꼭 껴안았어요. 세 친구는 서로에게 큰 힘이 되어줄 수 있다는 것을 깨달으며, 다시 용기를 내어 깊은 숲길을 걸어 나갔답니다.
