그린 드래곤(The Green Dragon)

Irene, Jinnie, and Poshil finally reached the path that led to the evil sorcerer’s castle. But standing in their way was a mighty creature—the Green Dragon. Its emerald scales glistened under the fading light, and with a single beat of its enormous wings, the forest shook violently. Every breath the dragon released spread a choking poison through the air.

“No one shall pass this way!” the dragon roared, its voice rumbling through the ground and into their hearts.

Irene gripped her golden sword tightly and stepped forward. Jinnie raised her staff, summoning a shield of light to protect them, while Poshil, in his wolf form, circled quickly, searching for an opening.

But the dragon wielded the forest itself as its weapon. Thick vines burst from the earth, twisting to trap them, and with each stomp of its massive claws, the ground split apart. Irene swung her sword to slice through the vines, yet the dragon’s strength was overwhelming.

“Sister, look there!” Jinnie cried. On the dragon’s chest gleamed a single emerald scale, shining brighter than all the rest. “That must be its weakness!”

With courage burning in her heart, Irene nodded. Poshil lunged forward, clamping onto the dragon’s leg and slowing its movements. Jinnie unleashed a brilliant flash of light, forcing the dragon to shield its eyes. In that moment, Irene leapt high, her golden sword raised, and drove it deep into the glowing emerald scale.

The dragon let out a thunderous roar as it fell, the forest quaking with its collapse. Yet its fierce gaze softened, turning calm and gentle. “Your courage and unity have bested me. Take this jewel—the Emerald of the Earth. Within it lies the strength of the land.”

The dragon’s body dissolved into streams of green light, vanishing into the air, and on the ground lay a single shining emerald. Irene picked it up, and a warm energy spread around them, as if the spirit of the forest itself was blessing their journey.

“We did it!” Irene exclaimed. Jinnie smiled with relief, and Poshil barked joyfully, wagging his tail. The three friends shared a quiet moment of triumph, but they knew this was only the beginning. Ahead still waited the Blue Dragon and the Red Dragon, guardians of the path to the sorcerer’s dark fortress.

하지만 드래곤은 숲을 자기 무기처럼 다뤘어요. 땅에서 덩굴이 솟아나 세 사람을 묶으려 하고, 발을 구를 때마다 땅이 크게 갈라졌어요. 아이린은 황금검으로 덩굴을 끊었지만, 드래곤의 힘은 너무나 거대했어요.

“언니, 저기 봐!”
지니가 외쳤어요. 드래곤의 가슴 한가운데, 다른 비늘들과 달리 눈부시게 빛나는 초록색 비늘이 있었어요.

“저게 약점일 거야!”

포실은 용감하게 드래곤의 다리에 달려들어 움직임을 늦췄고, 지니는 눈부신 섬광 마법을 펼쳐 드래곤의 시선을 막았어요. 그 순간 아이린은 힘껏 뛰어올라 황금검을 번쩍 들어 빛나는 초록 비늘을 찔러 넣었지요.

“꿔어어어어억!”
드래곤은 거대한 울음소리를 내며 땅에 쓰러졌어요. 숲이 크게 흔들리고 바람이 몰아쳤지만, 곧 드래곤의 눈빛은 부드러워졌어요.

“너희의 용기와 협력이 나를 꺾었구나. 이 보석을 받아라. 대지의 힘이 깃든 에메랄드 보석이다.”

드래곤은 서서히 녹색 빛으로 흩어져 사라졌고, 땅 위에는 반짝이는 보석 하나가 남았어요. 아이린이 그것을 손에 쥐자, 세 사람은 숲의 정령들이 지켜주는 듯 따뜻한 힘이 몸을 감싸는 것을 느꼈어요.

“우리가 해냈어!” 아이린이 웃었고, 지니는 고개를 끄덕이며 미소 지었어요. 포실은 꼬리를 세차게 흔들며 기쁘게 짖었지요.

하지만 이들은 알 수 있었어요. 아직 블루 드래곤과 레드 드래곤이 그들을 기다리고 있다는 것을.
