레드 드래곤(The red dragon)

With the Emerald and the Sapphire in their possession, Irene, Jinnie, and Poshil pressed forward to the final trial. Their path led into a blazing canyon where the ground glowed with molten rock, and rivers of lava streamed between jagged cliffs. The air shimmered with heat, and every step scorched the earth beneath their feet.

Suddenly, the ground shook violently, and flames erupted high into the air. From the heart of the fire emerged the final guardian—the Red Dragon. Its scales burned crimson like living fire, and each beat of its massive wings sent waves of heat rolling across the canyon.

“I am the last gatekeeper,” the dragon roared, its voice like the eruption of a volcano. “Only those who withstand the fire may pass into the castle!”

The Red Dragon unleashed a torrent of flames. Irene lifted her golden sword to shield herself, but even the blade grew hot under the burning fire. Jinnie cast her strongest ice spells, but the flames melted them instantly. Poshil bounded across the burning stones, his paws barely escaping the searing heat.

“This fire is too strong… what can we do?” Jinnie cried. But Irene steadied her breath, refusing to give in. She watched closely, and soon she noticed something unusual—beneath the dragon’s massive wing, a single crimson scale glowed like a jewel, faintly pulsing with light.

“That’s it! That scale is its weakness!” Irene shouted.

With a howl, Poshil transformed into his silver wolf form and dashed straight under the dragon, snapping at its legs to draw its attention. As the dragon lowered its body to strike him, Jinnie raised her staff and summoned a powerful wind spell, sweeping the flames aside to clear the way.

Irene seized the moment. She leapt into the air, golden sword blazing with the light of the Emerald and the Sapphire, and drove it into the glowing crimson scale.

The Red Dragon let out a roar that shook the heavens, its body writhing in flame and fury. But slowly, the fire began to fade, and the burning canyon grew quiet. The dragon’s fierce gaze softened, and its voice rumbled with unexpected warmth.

“Your courage and sacrifice have quelled the fury of fire. Take this jewel—the Ruby of Flame. Within it lies the power of fire and life.”

The dragon’s body dissolved into sparks of flame, leaving behind a radiant ruby glowing red as the heart of a volcano. Irene picked it up, and at once the three jewels—the Emerald, the Sapphire, and the Ruby—shone together. Their lights merged into one brilliant glow, and the three companions felt a surge of power awaken within them.

Irene’s golden sword blazed brighter than ever before, Jinnie’s staff shimmered with the energy of earth, water, and fire, and Poshil stood tall, his silver fur glowing with a radiant aura. They had completed the three trials.

Now, at last, the gates of the sorcerer’s dark castle awaited them, and the final battle was about to begin.

드래곤은 입을 크게 벌리며 불길을 토해냈어요. 아이린은 황금검으로 막아냈지만 검조차 빨갛게 달아올랐어요. 지니의 얼음 마법은 불길에 순식간에 녹아 사라졌고, 포실은 뜨거운 바위 위를 달리며 간신히 몸을 지켰지요.

“이대로는 안 돼… 불길이 너무 강해!” 지니가 외쳤어요. 하지만 아이린은 포기하지 않았어요. 그녀는 레드 드래곤의 움직임을 주의 깊게 살폈지요. 그러다 순간적으로 드래곤의 날개 밑, 불꽃이 닿지 않는 곳에서 미묘하게 빛나는 붉은 보석 같은 비늘을 발견했어요.

“저곳이야! 날개 밑에 있는 붉은 비늘이 약점이야!”

포실은 은빛 늑대로 변해 드래곤의 발밑을 빠르게 파고들며 날개를 향해 달렸어요. 드래곤이 포실을 막으려 몸을 낮추자, 지니가 강력한 바람 마법을 불러 불길을 옆으로 흘려보냈지요. 아이린은 그 순간 황금검을 움켜쥐고 불길 속으로 뛰어올라 날개 밑의 붉은 비늘을 힘껏 찔러 넣었어요.

“쿠어어어어어!” 레드 드래곤은 하늘을 울리는 듯한 포효를 내지르며 몸을 뒤흔들었어요. 하지만 곧 몸이 서서히 약해지더니 거대한 불꽃은 사그라지고, 뜨겁던 계곡은 고요해졌어요.

레드 드래곤은 마지막 숨을 내쉬며 말했어요.
“너희의 용기와 희생이 불의 분노를 잠재웠구나… 이 루비를 받아라. 그것은 불과 생명의 힘을 담고 있다.”

드래곤의 몸은 불꽃처럼 흩어지며 사라졌고, 땅 위에는 붉게 빛나는 루비 보석이 남았어요. 아이린이 보석을 손에 올리자, 세 사람의 몸에서 초록빛, 푸른빛, 붉은빛이 하나로 합쳐져 새로운 힘이 깨어났어요.

아이린은 강한 빛을 내뿜는 황금검을, 지니는 세 가지 원소가 깃든 마법을, 포실은 더욱 강력하고 아름다운 은빛 늑대의 힘을 얻었지요.

이제 모든 보석을 모은 세 사람은 마지막으로 성 안에 있는 나쁜 마법사와의 최종 결전을 준비할 수 있게 되었어요.
